MSG Raymond Donald Derby

August 8, 1936 - December 2, 2022

Full military honors will be held for MSG Raymond Ray Donald Derby (Ret), 86, of Ardmore, OK, will be at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, OK.
Mr. Derby passed away on Friday, December 2, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.
Viewing will be held on Wednesday December 7, 2022 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Service.
Ray was born August 14, 1936 in Detroit, Michigan to Leonard Hector Derby and Mary Catherine (Early)Derby. He received his GED and joined the US Army. After retiring from the Army, he became an ROTC instructor for 4 years at Southwestern Louisiana University.Ray was a member of the VFW in Gainesville, TX post 1922, member of special forces association and a Airborne life member.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Leonard Hector Derby and Mary Catherine Derby and brothers, George Derby and John Derby.
Ray is survived by his daughter, Susan Danielle Derby of New Mexico; son, Steven Michael Derby of Florida; sisters, Claire Richardson and husband Leon of Ardmore, Ok, Christian Richardson and husband Ron; sister-in-law Laurie Tremblay of Canada; five grandchildren and a host of other loving family and friends.
