Roderick "Mike" Briscoe

July 23, 1965 - November 20, 2017

Retired First Sergeant, Roderick James "Mike" Briscoe of Lawton, OK, died unexpectedly on November 19, 2017, at the age of 52, while recovering from surgery at Comanche County Memorial Hospital.
Mike was born in Houston, Texas, on July 23, 1965. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1986 and served a distinguished career in the Field Artillery spanning over twenty-seven years, retiring on 31 December 2013. This service included deployments to Saudi Arabia, Bosnia, and Iraq. His awards include Meritorious Service Medal w/three Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Commendation Medal w/three Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Achievement Medal w/five Oak Leaf Clusters, National Defense Service Medal w/Bronze Service Star, Southwest Asia Service Medical w/two Bronze Service Stars, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, NATO Medal, and numerous others. He married Hope Tomlin, the love of his life, on August 11, 1988. He also received his Master's Degree in Business from the University of Phoenix in 2010.
Mike was a devoted husband and father and a life-long sports enthusiast; he loved the Houston Rockets, Astros, Texans and Cougars! But more than anything else, Mike loved the Lord!!! He was a member of the Fort Sill Frontier Chapel.
Mike is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 30 years, Hope Briscoe; one daughter born into this union of marriage, Ariel Briscoe; a second daughter, Erielle Williams, from a previous relationship, Houston, TX; stepson Alexander Tomlin (Katrina), Miami, Florida; 4 grandchildren, Khi, Keion, and Kendrick Tomlin, Christopher John Williams, and Landyn Wilson; father Eddie James Brisco and step-mother Vinnell Brisco, Houston, TX; father-in-law Harold Douglas, Sr., Ardmore, OK; siblings Felicia Brisco, Tequita Reagins (Dwight), Pastor Stacey Brisco (Geneva), Houston, TX; Leticia Johnson (Reginald), Raleigh, NC; Karl Brisco (Dequita), Richmond, TX; step-siblings Pamela Kirk, Houston, TX; Jacqueline "Renee" Collins, Missouri City, TX; and Roderick Collins (Willie), Portsmouth, VA; brothers-in-law Terry Douglas, Jeffrey Douglas, Sr. (Myashandria), Ardmore, OK; sisters-in-law Patsy, Debra, and Kathy Douglas, OKC; Tracey Bryant and Crystal Douglas, Ardmore, OK; and Phyllis Edwards (Mark) Detroit, MI; special friends CSM (R) Guy and Cora Williamson, Lawton, OK; SSG (R) Desmond and Dawn Price, Lawton, OK; SGM Keith and Shirley Moore, San Antonio, TX; Pam Marion/Barry Ezerski and Team; and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Mike was preceded in death by a loving mother, Lise Leola Cooper, daughter LaShonda Hodge, and mother-in-law Willie Dean Wilson-Douglas.
