Travis Montgomery Botkin of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away on September 7, 2020, in Oklahoma City at the age of 28 years.
Travis Montgomery Botkin was born on June 24, 1992, in Long Beach California. He was the son of Richard Thomas and Laquitta (Jackson) Botkin. He attended Western Heights High School playing football where he was known as "T-Bone" and the "Hitman." Travis was also known as the person who stood up to bullies in the halls of the high school. Following high school Travis joined the United States Army 82nd Airborne, serving in Afghanistan. He was known as the guy who had "your back" whether on the football field or on the battle field Travis was always there for his team members. In 2013 Travis knelt on an I.E.D. and suffered many injuries, succumbing to his injuries on September 7, 2020, and another hero was taken too soon from us. Since 2013 Travis suffered greatly, and God saw his suffering and took Travis home to give him rest.
Travis was preceded in death by his mother, Laquitta.
Travis is survived by his father, Rick Botkin; and three brothers; Dustin Botkin and wife Adlin, Levi Botkin and wife Jen, and Waylon Botkin and wife Kayla; two nieces Isabel and Camilla Botkin; three nephews, Jake, Luke, Jackson and Kane Botkin; and many uncles, aunts and cousins.
Quote by his father Rick, "Sometimes God takes our heroes too soon. Even though Travis is not here, he still is watching over us and still has our back."
Services are scheduled for 10:00 am, Thursday, September 24, 2020, at the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Johnny Wray officiating. Burial will follow in the Ft. Sill National Cemetery at 2:00 pm.
