Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008 William Clair "Bill" Young Funeral service for retired Sgt. 1st Class William Clair "Bill" Young, 75, Temple, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Carl Conway, pastor of Community Lighthouse Church of Temple, officiating. Mr. Young died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008, in Temple. Burial will be at Flower Mound Cemetery, Lawton. He was born on Aug. 20, 1932, in Johnstown, Pa. to William and Mary Young. He grew up in Johnstown, and joined the U.S. Army on July 31, 1951. He served in many locations, including Germany, Korea, and Vietnam. He received the following medals and awards: Good Conduct Medal, Marksman, Sharpshooter, Expert Rifle, Expert Badge with Bars, Vietnam Combat Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and National Defense Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster. He retired from the Army Aug. 31, 1971. He was a cab driver for Buzy Bee and Yellow Cab in Lawton/Fort Sill for more than 30 years. He married Virgie King on July 16, 1993, in Walters. Survivors include his wife, Virgie, of the home; his children and their spouses, Vickie Buck, of Flemington, N.J.; Bobbie Jean Jorden, of Levittown, Pa.; Jerry and Sherree King, of Kingston; Larry and Vickie King, of Mart, Texas; Jimmy and Ann King, of Walters; Nadine and Jim Wilson, of Oklahoma City; Fred Couture, of Lawton; Kristi and Rocky Kosechata, of Temple; Cindy and Joe Trammell, of San Angelo, Texas; and Thelma Ragan, of Temple; his brothers: Jim Young, Dave Young, Paul Young, and Tom Young; his sisters, Sandy McEntire, Tootie Gilland, and Jean Young; two brothers in law and one sister in law, Harold Knight, of Lawton; and Bill and Wanda Lane, of Elgin. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wives, Jean Young and Shirley Young; his daughter, Debra Lynn Young, and his sister, Margaret Varner. |
