© Lawton Constitution Lawton, Oklahoma December 6, 1996 Clara May [Sims] Vowell Parker Funeral for Clara May Parker, 82, Lawton, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Eighth and Lee Church of Christ with Dave Rogers officiating. Mrs. Parker died Wednesday in a local hospital following a lengthy illness. Burial will be in Flower Mound Cemetery under direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home. She was born Feb. 3, 1914, in Duncan. She lived in the Lawton area most of her life. She was married to L. G. "Dink" Vowell for 38 years. She became a beautician in 1934, and owned and operated Clara's Beauty Shop from 1944 to 1988. She married Cecil A. Parker on Nov. 2, 1974. He died July 31, 1979. Mrs. Parker had been a member of Rebekah Lodge Chapter 87 since 1944, and was a member of Eighth and Lee Church of Christ. Survivors include two sons: L. Garland Vowell, Big Sandy, Texas; and Glen Vowell, Lawton; a brother, Russell Sims, Denver; two sisters: Hazel Morris, Lawton, and Annie Anderson, Oklahoma City; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. |
