© Lawton Constitution Lawton, Oklahoma Thursday, March 5, 2009 Helen R. [Sims] Leu Funeral for Helen R. Leu, 88, Lawton, will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Terry Koehn, pastor, St. Paul's United Methodist Church, officiating. Mrs. Leu died Sunday, March 1, 2009, at a local nursing center. Burial will be in Flower Mound Cemetery under direction of Becker Funeral Home. She was born April 12, 1920, in Berryville, Ark., to James Columbus and Martha Amanda Parker Sims. The family moved to the Lawton area in 1928. She attended Roseland School and graduated from Lawton High School with the class of 1938. She was a beautician before becoming a bookkeeper for Phillips-Aubrey Chevrolet and Whitten Oil Co. She married John Claude Thompson in February 1940. She later married retired Sgt. 1st Class William D. "Buck" Leu on Aug. 10, 1947, in Lawton. He died April 27, 1990. She was a member of the American Business Women's Association and St. Paul's United Methodist Church. She helped rehabilitate abandoned and abused animals. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law: Larry and Marlene Thompson, Virginia; and David and Jo Thompson, Fort Worth, Texas; five grandchildren and their spouses: Dana and Tony Khuen, Lawton; Kristy Thompson-Miller, Elgin; Claude W. Thompson, Virginia; Kim and Billie Williams, Lindsay; and Michell Thompson and Greg Lindley, Paradise, Texas; and four great-grandchildren: Jordan Lee, Taylor Miller, Hayden Miller and Chelsea Khuen. She was preceded in death by her parents; and five siblings: Pauline, Lucia, Lucille, Joe and James. Memorial contributions may be made to National Stroke Association, 9707 E.
