Col Robert Neal "Speed" Hulley

Bob was born in Sturgis, Michigan to Col. Oliver Somerville Hulley and Vena Velma [Emdee].

He had a sister Katherine "Jean" and a brother James Edwin, Lt. USAF.

While his father was serving at Ft.Sill, Bob graduated from Lawton High School in 1946.

He joined the Army Air corps on Sept 10, 1946. He entered West Point in 1948 and graduated in 1952, laughing at himself, he says he got the nickname "Speed" because "He was the only man with a self winding watch that wound down".

Bob was known to have a great sense of humor and a wonderful laugh.

In Japan, on July 28, 1955 he married his first wife Sallie Rounseville Pierson Cauchon. She was the daughter of Maj Gen Albert Pierson and Helen Margaret [Silsbee]. Sallie was the widow of Lt. Herve Page "Trapper" Cauchon. Bob adopted Sallie and Trapper's two sons, Albert Page Cauchon and Paul Joseph Cauchon, Capt. USN. Bob and Sallie had three more children; Katharine Jeanne, Margaret Neal and Robert Edwin. They were divorced in 1976.

On June 3, 1977 Bob married Marilyn "Earlene" Corwin. Earlene has three children from her previous marriage with John Ketchum; John C.; Kimberly [Copeland], Deynna [Appler]. Bob and Earlene had eighteen grandchildren.

Bob was a veteran of World War II and served in Korea, Thailand, Japan, Germany, and several US posts with the Military Police Corps. His awards included the Legion of Merit, National Defense Service Medal with First Oak Leaf Cluster, Defense Service Agency Meritorious Service Award, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, 3rd Award, Combat Infantryman Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, Japan, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Ranger Tab and Parachutist Badge. At Ft. Sill, Bob retired from the U.S. Army on November 30, 1976 reaching the rank of Colonel.

Bob was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and sang in the church choir.

He had been a member of Toast Masters International, the local West Point Society, served as a past chairman for the Armed Forces YMCA and was a member of the Lawton Kiwanis Club where he had served as a past lieutenant governor.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his brother James, who died June 15, 1958 and is buried in Arlington Memorial Cemetery and his niece Dr. Anna K. Sylvan, daughter of Jean.
