Richard A. Carroll

Funeral services for Richard A. Carroll, 66, will be Friday, March 6th, 2015 at 1 p.m. at Whinery Huddleston Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Leonard Presley officiating.

Burial will be at Flower Mound Cemetery.

Mr. Carroll passed away Sunday, March 1, 2015 in Oklahoma City.

Richard Carroll was born Jan. 29th, 1949 in Auburn, IN. to Frances W. and Florence Carroll.

Richard worked at Dan Rudder Motor Company in the mid 70s to the late 90s. From there, he worked for Grady Rogers and then for Oklahoma Vee Dub for many years until his passing.

Mr. Carroll was a veteran of the Vietnam War.

Richard met, and then married the love of his life, Julia Urioste, on Feb. 12th, 1971. To this union, two children were born and raised.

His passion was cars and racing. Richard was a familiar face at the Lawton Speedway for over thirty-five years. He was a driver with multiple wins in the #60 car, Racing Rabbit. Richard was later an official for the Speedway. He was a loving and caring man, making sure everyone was taken care of. He is survived by his wife of the home, Julia; one son, Richard Allen Carroll Jr., Lawton; one daughter, Candace Shinkle and husband, Ryan of Lawton; a brother, David Carroll and wife, Janie of Coco Beach, FL.; four grandchildren, LeSean Rozumialski, Devin Souhrada, Christopher Shinkle, and Kiera Shinkle; great-granddaughter, Lilyana Rozumialski; five nieces; one nephew; and 18 great-great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frances and Florence Carroll and two brothers, Paul Carroll and Barry Carroll.

Viewing will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., today, Thursday, March 5th, 2015 at the funeral home. Family will be receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. during that time.
