March 14, 1972 Robert Orville "Bob" Bishop Bob Bishop, Route 3 Lawton, passed away today in a Wichita Falls, TX hospital from injuries received Sunday in a fall from a haybarn. Mr Bishop, farmer & rancher, lived most his life in the Lawton area. He was married to Lois Oswalt 22 Dec 1944 in Lawton. Mr Bishop was a member of the American Hereford Association & Oklahoma Hereford Association. Survivors include his wife of the home; son Gary Bob, a student at OSU, Stillwater; daughter JoAnn, of the home; siblings: Harry Houston TX, Tracy Route 2, Milton T Abilene TX, Lewis Bedford TX, Mrs Faye Sparks Marlow & Mrs Hazel Carter 2415 E. Rev's George Stauffer & Charles Gray conducted the services at Sullivan Village Hilltop Baptist Church w/burial in Flower Mound. |
December 17, 2002 Gary Bob Bishop Gary Bishop passed away in his home after fighting a long battle w/cancer. Mr. Bishop was the son of Lois Oswalt & Bob Bishop. He spent his early years on his family's Hereford operation in southwest OK. He attended OSU, where he earned a bachelor's degree in animal science in 1973. He married Vickie Brooks 22 May 1982, in Big Horn County, MT. Bishop first began working for the American Hereford Association in 1973, his first responsibilities being in the total performance records department serving as assistant director. Bishop also served as the director of youth activities. Bishop left the AHA in 1983 to manage his family's purebred & commercial Hereford ranching operation in south central MT. He was actively engaged in the Hardin, MT community where he held an elder position in his local church. He also served his community for many years as a 4-H leader where he coached several successful livestock judging teams & was a mentor to numerous young people in the Hadin community. In 2002, Bishop rejoined AHA as the director of breed improvement & field service. Under Bishop's leadership, the whole herd reporting program was launched. He is a former president of the AHA State Presidents Council, American Junior Hereford Association National Advisor & vice chairman of the Montana Stockgrowers Seedstock Committee. Survivors include his wife, daughters: Jodi, Tami & Kristi, all of the home; plus sister, JoAnn Bishop-Dees. Services were at Tiffany Fellowship, Kansas City, MO |
