Hester Julia [Woody] Laging
FLETCHER-Funeral for Hester Julia Laging, 86, Fletcher, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mike Mahaffey, pastor, and the Rev. Phil Jones, Lawton, officiating.
Mrs. Laging died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005, at a Lawton hospital.
Burial will be at Fletcher Cemetery under direction of Hodge Funeral Home, Fletcher.
She was born Jan. 16, 1919, in Raytown, Texas, to Amalia and Jim Woody. When she moved with her family to the Fletcher and Cyril area and lived in the area since.
She married James Vestal Laging on Feb. 28, 1934, at the Fletcher Methodist Church parsonage. He died March 8, 1988.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of Cyril Christian Church and taught Sunday school from 1948 to July 2000. She then moved to Fletcher and attended Fletcher First United Methodist Church.vSurvivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry Dean and Patricia Laging, Venezuela; two daughters: Sandra Jeane Kinder, Fletcher; Sharon Moss and her husband, Gale, Lawton; six grandchildren: Dena Lynn Laging Compton, Dennis Alan Laging, Julia Ann Pruitt, Caryl Lynn Rackly, Cathleen Ann Jones and Wendy Lee Carder; and three great-grandchildren: Eddie Lee Rackley, Colin Philip Jones and Logan Robert Jones.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandchild, Michael Fred; and two sisters: Lorraine Meeker and Dorothy Moser.
