Funeral Set In Fletcher For Griffin

Funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday in the First Christian Church at Fletcher for John Wesley Griffin, 67, who died in a local hospital Friday.

Griffin, field superintendent for Rocket Oil Company of Duncan, had been with Rocket Oil 32 years. He was born at Alma Aug. 11, 1903. He was married to Minnie Zisman at Chickasha on June 17, 1927.

His survivors are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Glenn Trimmer of Stonewall, Okla., and Mrs. M. P. Hensley of Long Beach, Calif.; a son, Johnny Ray Griffin with the Navy, based at San Diego; and his mother, Mrs. Ethel Griffin of Cyril. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Glenn Walker and Mrs. Dick King, both of Cyril; three brothers, Jess, Jack and Ray, all of Lawton, and four grandchildren.

The Rev. Fred I. Jordan, pastor of the Central Christian Church at Fairview and former pastor of West Side Christian Church here, will officiate at the funeral. Griffin was a member of West Side.

Burial will be in the Fletcher Cemetery. Bearers will be Emmett Roach, Royce Williams, Ray James, Jack Savage, Ralph Mullins, and Harry Claypool. Robbins Funeral Home of Fletcher will direct.

Minnie [Zisman] Griffin

Longtime Duncan resident Minnie Griffin, 86, of Duncan died Friday, Jan 21, 1994, in a Stephens County hospital.

Service will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Robbins Funeral Home Chapel in Fletcher with the Rev. Richard R. Dunlap officiating. Burial will be in the Fletcher Cemetery.

Mrs. Griffin was born Feb. 24, 1907, in Fletcher. She was raised in the Fletcher area, attending school there. She married John Wesley Griffin June 17, 1927, in Chickasha and was a homemaker and member of the World Wide Church of God in Duncan. She lived in Duncan since 1931. Mr. Griffin died May 7, 1971.

Survivors include two daughters, Patsy June Snow of Union Valley and Bobby Sue Hensley of Ada; two sisters, Emma Mathis of Cyril and Julia Claypool of Fletcher, five grandchildren, Gregory Armstrong, Michael Cremmer, Tony Kaai, Angela Sue Smith and Jolene Griffin; and five great-grandchildren, Marcie Davis, Travis Kaai, Mitchell Cremmer, Jason Cremmer and Preston Smith.
