Betty Jo (Johnson) Jain

1932 – 2014

Betty Jo (Johnson) Jain, 82, of Norman passed away on Friday, November 21, 2014. She was born February 22, 1932 in Holdenville, Oklahoma to Ernest C. and Elizabeth (Neel) Johnson.
She graduated from Fletcher High School in 1950 and earned a Bachelor's Degree from Oklahoma City University in 1954. She met Gilbert Jain at the First United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City, and they were married on June 22, 1954. They celebrated their 60th anniversary this year. In 1969 she completed a Master's Degree in Library Science from the University of Oklahoma. Following graduation she began her 22 year career at the Moore Public Library where she was promoted to Head Librarian. She retired in 1991.
Betty was an avid reader, loved to play games, and rooted for OU football and Thunder basketball. Most precious of all was the time she spent with her family, especially her granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Betty is survived by her husband, Gilbert Jain; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Belinda Jain; daughter, Cynthia Jain; granddaughter Ashley and her husband Conner Johnson and her granddaughter, Lyndsay Jain.
Visitation will be from 2:00pm-8:00pm Sunday, November 23 and 8:00am-8:00pm Monday, November 24 at the Havenbrook Funeral Home in Norman.
Funeral service will be at 10:00am Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at Goodrich Memorial United Methodist Church, 200 W. Hayes in Norman, officiated by Pastor Jim Shepherd.
Graveside service will be at 2:00pm at the Fletcher Cemetery in Fletcher, OK.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Betty's memory to either Goodrich Memorial United Methodist Church or to the United Cerebral Palsy organization.
