Zeigler, born in Duncan, OK on December 14, 1922 and passed away on October 25, 2013 just short of 91 good years. John was a graduate of the Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, NY in 1943. After serving in the Merchant Navy as a Chief Engineer during World War II, he married his lifelong partner of 62 years, Ormajane Kirkpatrick of Rushville, IN. Leaving the Merchant Fleet after marriage, he had a long and fruitful career as an industrial engineer retiring from Abbott Laboratories as Director of Engineering Operations from the Hospital Products Division in 1984. John and his wife spent the majority of their golden years in Ashville, NC. John is survived by his sons, Russell and his wife, Maddie of Albuquerque and John M. Zeigler IV and his wife, Martha of Weaverville, NC, granddaughter, Stacy Zeigler and her son, Travis Russell Terrill of Westcliff, CO, grandson, Sean Zeigler, PhD and his wife, Dr. Nora Malaisrie of Bethesda, MD, granddaughter, Shannon Zeigler, JD of Washington, D.C., grandson, Shane Zeigler of New York, NY, grandson, Police Officer John M. Zeigler V of Weaverville, NC and grandson, Captain Paul Zeigler, USAF of Washington, D.C. Service: Graveside Services will be held on Sunday, November 3, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Cache Cemetery, Cache, OK. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Salvation Army. |
