Jean Dawes, age 84, of Oklahoma City, passed away Sunday, May 20, 2012. Juanita Jean Simmons was born May 8, 1928 in Fredrick, OK, the 2nd of 4 children born to Judson Edgar Simmons & Jesse E. [Beers] Simmons.She was raised in the Cache and Fredrick area and attended Fredrick Schools.
After school, she started working as a cashier for Safeway Grocery. It was there she met Lee K. Dawes. They fell in love and were married and together they raised 4 children, sons, Mike & Greg and daughters, Patt & Pam. They made their home primarily in Oklahoma City where they owned and operated the Dawes Foods Company for many years.
Jean loved life! She enjoyed social networking on Facebook and working crossword puzzles and she never missed an opportunity to read a good murder mystery. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded by death; Husband, Lee K. Dawes, Parents, Judson Edgar and Jesse E. Simmons. Siblings Judson "Bud" Edgar Simmons, Mary Louise Strong & Virginia "Ginger" Peal Burns.
Jean leaves behind: Her children, Mike and Debbie Dawes of Hinton, OK , Patt Dawes of Oklahoma City, Ok, Michael and Pam Dillinger of Purcell, OK, and Greg and Kathy Dawes of Owasso, OK. Her Beloved Grand children, Joshua Dawes of Indianapolis, IN, Cale and Darcie Challis of Norman, OK, Joseph Dawes of Champaign, IL, and Laine Dillinger of Purcell, OK
After a trip through the Wichita Mountains she will be laid to rest at a graveside service 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at the Cache Cemetery in Cache, Oklahoma. Arrangements by Wilson-Little Funeral Home of Purcell.
