Thomas Robert Green

October 31, 1932 - July 30, 2017

Thomas Robert Green 84, surrounded by loved ones, closed his eyes on July 30, 2017 and opened them in heaven.
Thomas was born on October 31, 1932 in Lawton, OK., to John Robert Green and Mary Dupler Green. He graduated from Cache High School in 1950. After graduating, Thomas attended college for one year and then married the love of his life, Lenita McClung on October 24, 1953. Over the next few years, they welcomed their three daughters, Vonda, Valinda, and Sherry; the most important girls in his life.
Thomas grew up as a farmer, was a butcher for over twenty years, and also was a plumber. Eventually, started his own filter service with his wife, which continued many years. He loved fishing with his family, and enjoyed watching the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys.
Thomas was a man of few words, but his actions spoke volumes. He was a devoted husband and father, but also was an exceptional grandfather; fulfilling the role of "dad" to many of his grandchildren. Thomas was a Godly man, and was one of the founders of Wichita Baptist Church in Cache, OK., where he was a deacon for over 50 years. Every Sunday after church, he led the family dinners with prayer. As well as, every night he sat with his wife and had bible studies. Thomas always offered a helping hand to those in need; doing so with a big smile on his face. Thomas was a Christian example, not only for his family, but for all in the community.
Thomas is preceded in death by his wife, Lenita McClung Green, parents Robert Green and Mary Dupler Green, brother-in-law Lawrence Lafrance and a baby sister.
He is survived by his three married daughters; Vonda Green Curtis and husband Bill Curtis of Cache, Valinda Green Phillips and husband Daryll Phillips of Cache, and Sherry Green Straub and husband Will Straub of Lawton. As well as, his nine grandchildren and their spouses; Chad Curtis and wife Charis, Corey Stephens and wife Dianne, Jonathan Barbour and wife Lacey, Chris Curtis and wife Samantha, Stefanie Barbour Timerson and husband Jason, Robby Clanton, Jeff Gosset, Amber Birdwell Whipp and husband Bobby, and Kelly Burch. His Great grandchildren Billy Lee, Evelyn, Taylor S., Colten, Jolene, Mackinely, Taylor M., Brody, Gregory, Isabella, Ian, Mikayla, Kobe, Justin, Kaydan, Jovan, Julian, Kenadee, Caleb, Emileih, Aiden, Judson, Easton, AshLynne, and Noah. Great-Great grandchild Aaron Curtis. His brother James Green and his wife Judy of OdessaTX., sister Mary Green Lafrance of Cache. Extended family Bill and Eleanor Straub of Lawton, and numerous in-laws, nieces & nephews, and cousins.
His celebration of life will be Saturday, August 5,2017 at Wichita Baptist in Cache, with Pastor Leonard Presley officiating. The viewing will be August 4th, 2017 all day, and family visitation is August 4, 2017 from 6-7pm, at the Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Home.
The family would like to thank everyone for their support, kind words and prayers during this difficult time. They would also like to give a special thanks to Promise care for the kindness and care shown to their family and loved one.
Interment will follow at Cache Cemetery.
