Funeral services for Thorbe Ophelia Cummins McKinney, a longtime Coal County resident, will be held Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Gospel Lighthouse church in Coalgate with Rev. Delbert White officiating. Burial will be in Woodman Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Brown's Funeral Services of Coalgate.
Mrs. McKinney was born May 27, 1926 in Savanna, OK to Will and Effie Craven Cummins and passed away March 14, 2010 in Coalgate at the age of 83. She attended Mowdy School and married Albert "Boe" McKinney on August 2, 1944 in Coalgate. He preceded her in death on December 5, 1993. Mrs. McKinney was a homemaker and a member of the Gospel Lighthouse Church in Coalgate.
Survivors include one son, Rodney McKinney of Coalgate; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, along with numerous other relatives, nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Ronald Dean McKinney and Lonnie Dale McKinney; seven brothers, Fines Cummins, Audman Cummins, Orvil Cummins, Marvin Cummins, Narvin Cummins, Ray Cummins and Willie Cummins and one sister Goldie Cummins Estes.
Casketbearers will be Arnie McKinney, Justin McKinney, Waylon McKinney, Jeremiah McKinney, Corey McCarter and Rick McKinney. Honorary bearers will be Jason McKinney, Willie Clyde McKinney, Jacob McKinney, Boe (McKinney) Ray, Taylor (McKinney) Ray, Kevin Nelson, Rowdy Dale, and Zach Taylor.
