James Clay Stinnett

August 8, 1950 ~ May 9, 2015

James Clay Stinnett, 64, of McAlester, died Saturday, May 9, 2015 in McAlester.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, May 12 from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 13 at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Stonewall with Rev. O.C. Hawkins officiating. Service arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service.

James was born August 8, 1950 in Stonewall to Dee Smith and Zelma Hannah (Earven) Stinnett.

He grew up in Northern California where he worked at Sanduskys in Arvin, California. James moved to McAlester in 1971. He also lived in Poteau for a short time before returning to McAlester to make his home.

He married Judy Cates on May 15, 1992 in Chambers.

He had a 21-year career working for McDonalds.

He loved riding his bike and won several competitions for distance biking.

He is survived by his wife: Judy Gayle (Cates) Stinnett of McAlester; brother: Darrell Stinnett and wife, Charlotte of Arvin, California; sister: Dorothy Presley of Bakersfield, California; uncle: Howard Earven and wife, Nan of Heavener; and aunt: Winnie Powell of Bakersfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Dee and Zelma (Earven) Stinnett, and a sister: Catherine Louise Stinnett.
