Funeral services for Gerry Wayne Palmer, a former resident of Tupelo, were held Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Brown's Funeral Chapel in Coalgate. Burial was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery with Brown's Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Palmer was born April 21, 1952 in Oklahoma City to Jack and Leatrice (Ware) Palmer and passed away December 23, 2011 in Weatherford, TX at the age of 59. He attended school in Tupelo and East Central College in Ada. Gerry married Brenda Lopez in Weatherford, TX in 1999, was a conductor for Union Pacific Railroad for over 35 years and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include one daughter, Kelli Palmer and husband I an Jorgeson of Austin, TX; siblings, Anthony Palmer and wife Robin of Tupelo, Vicki Pickens of Durant and Diana Dodson and husband Ray of Wagoner, OK; nieces and nephews, Marie Palmer, Kaylea Palmer and Victoria Palmer all of Tupelo, Isreal Pickens and wife Michelle of Savanna, Michelle Henderson of Sherman, TX and Kristy Harris of Wagoner, OK; estranged wife, Brenda (Lopez) Palmer of Weatherford, OK; and scores of friends, hogheads, oldheads, swellheads and other railroad buddies.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Debby Booker Palmer.
Pallbearers were Mickey Palmer, Tammy Palmer, Johnny Palmer, Patty Palmer, Linus Bachelor and Rick Ellis. Honorary bearers were Willie Gold, Charles Harkins and Jerry Sanders.
