Funeral services for George Leon McCoy, a Coal County resident, will be held Friday, February 19, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Moore Cemetery with Bro. Gary Weeden officaiting. Family night will be at Brown's Funeral Service of Coalgate.
Mr. McCoy was born November 27, 1937 in Oklahoma City to George Washington and Violet Clanton McCoy and passed away February 13, 2010 in Coalgate at the age of 72. He attended Capitol Hill High School in Oklahoma City, married Sandra Thomas on May 21, 1960 in Redondo Beach, CA and worked for Hughes Aircraft as a supervisor in Clover City, CA adn later transferred to Long Beach, CA. He has a master's degree in Christianity, was licensed preacher, ws involved in Scouting for 38 years and was a member of the Lion's Club.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra "Sue" McCoy of the home; three sons, George Eugene McCoy and wife Wanda, John Thomas McCoy and wife Katherine and Thomas Eugene McCoy and wife Kelly all of Coalgate; sisters, Vinita Sawyer and husband John of Norman, OK and Donna Joy McLachlan and husband Dale of Kingston; brother, Gary Don McCoy of Coalgate; thirteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sheryl McCoy and grandson Billy McCoy.
