Edith Lucille (Hicks) Deskin, age 88, a Durant resident. She was born on August 18, 1932, to William Henry & Ruth (Woodell) Hicks, at Olney, OK. Edith passed away on April 06, 2021 at Durant, OK. She graduated from Olney Public Schools. She received her Master in Education degree at Biola University in Los Angeles, CA. Edith was a 2nd Grade Teacher at Coalgate Public Schools for 25 years.
She married Vernon "Leroy" Deskin. He preceded her in death on April 23, 2010. Edith was a member of the First Baptist Church in Coalgate & also attended Harmony Baptist Church in Atoka. She enjoyed teaching Bible school, reading the Bible, teaching Sunday School & teaching Public School.
She is survived by her brothers: William "Bill" & Gehrounda Hicks of Durant, OK, James & Maxine Hicks of Little Flock, AR, Along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives & a host of friends
She was preceded in death by Husband: Vernon “Leroy” Deskin, Parents: William Henry & Ruth (Woodell) Hicks, Sister: Myrtle May (Hicks) Spears
