Funeral services for Mrs. Mildred B. Brown, 86, of Tishomingo were held on Friday, February 18th, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Gniech officiating, assisted by Rev. Tony Folger. Interment followed in the Moore Cemetery in Coal County, just north of Wapanucka. Mrs. Brown passed away on February 15th at the Carl Albert Hospital in Ada, Oklahoma.
Mildred was born on July 17th, 1924 in Olney, Oklahoma to James D. Davis and Alice Hearrell Davis. She graduated from Olney High School in 1943 and married Carl Brown on March 21st, 1944 in Coalgate, Oklahoma. They moved to Johnson County in 1963 and she worked Dr. E. S. Bell as his office manager for 25 years until her retirement. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and enjoyed all of the sporting events of Oklahoma University and the Oklahoma City Thunder professional basketball team.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Joe and Tootsie Davis.
Mrs. Brown is survived by husband Carl, of the home; two daughters, Sandra Nickell of Memphis, TN and Sherri Truett and her husband LeRoy of Tishomingo; three granddaughters, Kelli, Keri and Kimberly; other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers for the service; Steve Holland, Edgar Collins, Jimmy Collins, Gilbert Mauer, and David Gwinn. Honorary bearers were; Lester Powell and State Representative Josh Brecheen.
Arrangements were under the direction of Clark Funeral Service of Tishomingo.
