Services for Gertrude Bush, 93, of Ada are 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Ada, Rev. Harold Ware will officiate. Burial will follow at Midway Cemetery near Lehigh. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mrs. Bush passed away Monday, January 16, 2017 at an Ada nursing home. She was born January 4, 1924 at Coalgate to Jake and Carrie Jasper Holt. She graduated from Dunbar High School in Atoka. She moved to Ada in 1945 from Coalgate.
She married Harold Joe Bush July 7, 1945. He preceded her in death January 29, 1990. Mrs. Bush was a housekeeper for many years. She had worked as a Precinct Worker for the Pontotoc County Election Board where she served as Chairman from 1985 to 2013. She served as a board member for Call-A-Ride Public Transit in Ada and also for the Habitat for Humanity. Mrs. Bush was of the Baptist faith and an active worker in her church.
Survivors include her children, Patricia Bush of Ada, Peggy Thomas of Randallstown, MD, Larry Bush, Sr., Roanoke, TX, Carol Bush of Fayetteville, NC and David Bush of Ada; her grandchildren, Paul Bush, Larry Bush, Jr., Danielle Errie, Carlee Patrick and Nikia Bush; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers and three sisters.
Bearers will be Jonathan Lyons, Paul Bush, Larry Bush, Jr., Melvin Lyons, Devin Bush and Samuel Bush.
The family says those who wish may make memorials in her honor to the American Heart Association, P. O. Box 1653, Topeka, KS 66601-1653.
