Roy "Pete" McKeen

Funeral services for Roy "Pete" McKeen, a longtime Coal County resident, will be Friday, January 15, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Brown's Funeral Chapel in Coalgate. Mr. Richard Hampton and Mr. Danny Ward will officiate. Family night will be Thursday evening 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in McCarty Cemetery with Brown's Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
Mr. McKeen was born February 19, 1932 in Atoka County to Enos and Kitty (Zachary) McKeen and passed away January 11, 2010 in Coalgate at the age of 77. He attended small engine training, married Betty Sue Williams on June 4, 1951 in Lovington, NM and retired as a heavy equipment operator and small engine repair technician. He was a member of the Church of God in Tupelo, a lifetime member of the Coal and Atoka Counties Coon Hunters Association, was an avid sportsman, loved hunting and fishing. He enjoyed spending time with his family too, including his wife, children and grandchildren, whom he loved very much. He also enjoyed his pets, which were important to him.
Survivors include his wife Betty Sue McKeen of the home in Coalgate; children, Roy Lee McKeen of Helena, OK, Mary Hines of Phillips, OK, Leroy McKeen of Coalgate; and Donald McKeen and wife Tina of Coalgate; grandchildren, Roy Olen McKeen , Michael McKeen of Muskogee, Jimmy McKeen of Sallisaw, Kenneth Shores of Atoka, Jayla Summers of Phillips, Nathan McKeen of Seminole, Dennis Kneipp of San Diego, CA, Jacob McKeen of Fayetteville, AR, Ivonne Jagoda of Emmit, MI, Becky Bowen of Stillwater, OK, Sabrina Zerzycki of Clinton Township, MI, Amy Allen, Trevor Dunn, Kelsey Dunn all of Coalgate and Jason Farris of Chanute, KS; twenty-three great grandchildren; along with nieces and nephews, cousins and numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, Jeannie Sue McKeen; four brothers and two sisters.
Pallbearers will be Roy Olen McKeen, Michael McKeen, Jimmy McKeen, Kenneth Shores, Stephen Shores, Trevor Dunn, Jacob McKeen, and Mike Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Kneipp, Eddie Roebuck, Clabber McLellan, Marvin Taylor, Charlie Horton and Danny Baker.
