Funeral services for Larry Wayne Farris, a longtime Coal County resident, will be held Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Brown's Funeral Chapel in Coalgate with Rev. Bill Weathers officiating. Speakers will be Johnny D. Ward, Flint Sutton, and Justin Farris. Burial will be in the McCarty Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Brown's Funeral Service of Coalgate
Larry was born August 23, 1947 in San Bernardino, CA to Harry and Cleo (Tucker) Farris and passed away July 18, 2009 in Atoka at the age of 61. He attended Coalgate School and graduated in 1964. Larry married Sherry Pierce on July 24,1971 at Stringtown Baptist Church, was a roughneck in the oilfield and also a rancher. He was a verteran, and served in the Vietnam War. He loved to hunt, fish and spend time with his grandkids.
Survivors include his wife, Sherry Farris, of Coalgate; mother, Cleo Farris of Coalgate; daughter, Shelly Tucker and husband Dustin; son, Heath Farris; grandchildren, Tamra Wilson and husband Chance, Pierce Farris, Tagen Miller and Ruger Tucker; brother, Harry Farris and Cherie; sisters, Brenda Maggia and Linda Farris; special niece, Rhonda Givens; along with nieces, nephews, and numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Farris and brother, Jim Farris.
Casketbearers will be Alvin Cagle, Flint Sutton, Peachie Palmer, Brandon Acosta, Robert Wardrobe, David Johnson, Dearl Ingram and Gary Dority. Honorar pallbearers will be Gary Vaughn, Jackie Weakly, Jim McNutt, Les McCurry, Jim Johnson, Randy Burris, Jerry Lansdale, adn Jim Cox.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Jacklyn Shirley Fund at Shamrock Bank.
