Funeral services for Clyde L. Paxton were held Monday, August 17, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Lehigh Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Magby officiating, assisted by Rev. David Boggs. Burial was in Lehigh Cemetery with arrangements under the directions of Brown's Funeral Service of Coalgate.
Mr. Paxton was born May 15, 1917 at Prairie Grove, OK (Coal County) to U.S. Paxton and Lucy Webber Paxton and passed away on August 14, 2009 in Coalgate at the age of 92. He attended Prairie Grove and Lehigh schools and married Lois L. Osborne on July 29, 1938 in Coalgate. She preceded him in death on March 2, 2002. Mr. Paxton was a rancher, a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the Lehigh Baptist Church.
Survivors include sons, William Clyde "Pretty Boy" Paxton and wife Carolyn of Garland, TX and Jim Paxton and wife Bridget of Antlers, OK; daughters, Ruthette Raines and husband Donald of Burleson, TX and Jean Collins and husband Burk of Colleyville, TX; eight grandchildren, Donnie Raines, Johnny Collins, Tradona Colgan, Alice Crowley, Jennifer Clark, Jamie Dryer, Matt Paxton and Rachel Paxton; fifteen great grandchildren and two on the way; four great, great granchildren and one on the way; along with numerous other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two brothers,Sidney Paxton and Cecil Paxton; one sister, Carolyn Sue Paxton; and one great granddaughter, Cassidy Collins.
Casketbearers were Matt Paxton, Johnny Collins, Damon Eden, Donnie Raines, Kelly Clark and Donner Raines. Honorary bearers were Troy Dyer, Mike Colgan, Russell Colgan, Koby Page, Shane Baxter, David Raines, Paul Crowley, and Chris Walkes.
