Funeral services for David R. Wiggins, a Coalgate resident, were held Wednesday, (today), August 17, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Brown's Funeral Chapel in Coalgate with Rev. David Unsell officiating. Burial was in Coalgate Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Brown's Funeral Service of Coalgate.
David was born June 5, 1949 in Dillon, SC to James Franklin and Alma Louise Campbell Wiggins and passed away August 14, 2011 at his home in Coalgate at the age of 62. He attended Latta School in South Carolina and married Sally Young on May 12, 1972 in Coalgate. David was a meat cutter for many years. He worked for Atoka Food Center, Hudson's big Country Store and owned his own business in Coalgate known as David's Meat and Locker Plant. He also worked for Doyle's Food Market and Sonny's Grocery in Coalgate. David attended Corner Stone Praise and Worship Center and loved his grandchildren and loved spending time with them. He liked to collect old coins, play poker with his friends and loved to hunt and fish.
Survivors include his wife, Sally (Young) Wiggins of the home; children, Kevin Wiggins and wife Brooke of Blue Ridge, TX, Krissie Haney and husband Kevin of Coalgate and Kody Wiggins of Coalgate; grandchildren, Brevin Wiggins, Brody Wiggins, Keith Haney, Kortnie Haney, Kirsten Haney and Braxton Wiggins; special mother-in-law, Betty Jo Young of Coalgate; siblings, Verney Wiggins of Summerville, SC, Faye Woodell of Florence, SC, Mary Demery of Latta, SC and Beulah Jackson of Latta, SC; special nephew Billy "Buddy" Whittington of Latta, SC; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear and l loved friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Franklin and Alma Louise Wiggins; siblings, Jack Wiggins, Franklin Wiggins, Margie Davis, Maxine Whittington, Dorothy Sandel, Diane Blackman, and Doris Wiggins, and father-in-law Arthur "Dushie" Young, Jr.
Casketbearers were Waylon McKinney, Justin McKinney, Adam Crow, Nick Crow, Billy Smithart, and Bryan Peck. Honorary bearers were Steve Sandman, Eddie Roebuck, Kevin Parry, Kenny Pebworth, Bobby Cook, C.I. Sears, Don Stanberry, Gary Bolin, Greg Davidson, Nick Lolli, Rick Branam, Clay Mowdy, Dwight Jump, Shawn Lewis, Tony Gibby, J. D. Smith, Russell Hampton and Gary Coffee.
