Graveside services for Virgil Ray Spurlock were held Friday, August 6, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Coalgate Cemetery with Rev. Doug Bailes officiating. Brown's Funeral Service of Coalgate was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Spurlock was born February 18, 1933 in Pontotoc County, OK to Roy Virgil and Wilda Belle Holloway Spurlock and passed away August 2, 2010 in Allen, OK at the age of 77. He graduated from Vanoss High School and East Central University and married Betty Lambert. She preceded him in death on April 24, 2005. Mr. Spurlock was a water technician for Culligan water, attended the Church of God of Prophecy and was a veteran with the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War.
Survivors include one daughter, Julia Williams; sisters Mary Francine Anderson and Janice Elaine Rey; brothers, James Spurlock and Ronnie Spurlock; along with grandchildren, nieces, nephews and numerous other relatives and many friends.
Casketbearers were Paul Campbell, Phil Campbell, Dean Anderson, James Rey, James Spurlock and Ronnie Spurlock.
