Funeral services for Raymond Leland Smith, a longtime Coalgate resident, will be held Wednesday (today), August 19, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Brown's Funeral Chapel in Coalgate with Rev. Bill Weathers and Rev. Bob Trail officiating. Burial will be in Coalgate Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Brown's Funeral Service of Coalgate.

Mr. Smith was born February 15, 1937 in Coalgate to Richard and Odney Kent Smith and passed away August 16, 2009 in Oklahoma City at the age of 72. He attended Coalgate School and graduated in 1955. On March 9, 968 he married Wynema Swindell in Durant. Mr. Smith was a dispatcher for Freight Lines and was a member of the Cottonwood Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife Wynema Smith of the home; children, Rayland Smith and wife Teresa of Idaho Falls, ID,, Nancy Tinnin of Oklahoma City, Mary Weber and husband Steve of Mustang, Margie Kutch and husband Ken of Oklahoma City and Betty Sexton of Norman; grandchildren, Chase Weber, Tucker Weber, Johna Hembree and Ricky, Chrissy Walker and Gary, Dru Burns, Justin Stone, Shane Sutton and Anna, Raymond Burns and Casey; great grandchildren, Ryan Hembree, Aubrie Hembree, Derrick Sutton, Kylie Sutton, Shane Sutton Jr., Syndney Williams, Alizabeth Walker, Tanner Walker; brother, Jim Smith and wife Linda of Duncan, OK; sisters, Wanda Childers of Coalgate, Patsy Means of Birmingham, AL, and Sue Sarton of Atoka; along with nieces and nephews and numerous other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Leon Smith and son Eddie Burns.

Casketbearers will be W. W. Harris, Walter Hogue, Nick Lolli, Bobby Thomas, Marion Floyd and Johnny D. Ward. Honorary bearers will be John Wayne Ward, Frank Strickland, Floyd Campbell, Gary Vaughn, E. P. Fanning and A. J. Shirley.
