Funeral services for W. C. Pulliam, a longtime Coal County resident, were held Thursday, July 2, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Brown's Funeral Chapel in Coalgate with Pastor Grady Roundtree officiating. Burial was in Coalgate Cemetery with Brown's Funeral Service of Coalgate in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Pulliam was born September 19, 1924 in Coal County to Clifford Pulliam and Pearl Preston and passed away June 20, 2009 in Coalgate at the age of 84. He attended Coalgate High School, East Central State College and earned his masters degree at the University of Oklahoma. W.C. married Margaret Ann McLaughlin Williams on August 7, 1954 at Long Beach, CA, retired in 1983 as a school adminstator and was a mason and affiliated with the Eastern Star.

Survivors include his wife Margaret Ann of Coalgate; daughters, Nancy Gibby, Betsy Pulliam, Kerry Westfall and Stacy East all of Coalgate; sons Donald M. Pulliam and wife Betty of McAlester and John R. Williams and wife Marilyn of Durant; brother, Kenneth Pulliam and wife Maxine of Bristow; sister Jean Narog of Corpus Christi, TX; granddaughters, Bunni Courtney of Coalgate and Christel Kirk of Sherman, TX; grandsons, Mason and Preston East of Glenpool, OK and Dennis Williams of Edmond, OK; special nieces, Kenda Smith and Linda Kay Bourland, both of Coalgate; along with many other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by his father; mother; sisters Juanita O'Neal and Wilma Lee Williams, and grandson Garrick Burke.

Casketbearers were Clint East, Roger Wilson, Michael Burns, Roland Fanning, Bryan Pope and Alvin Pebworth. Honorary bearers were Larry Bart Pope, Gary Dority, Floyd Gibson, E. C. Martin, Tom Mayer, Clifford Eddings, Donald Burns and Matt Hooe.
