Lenora Childress Mayer

Lenora (Childress) Mayer, age 81, a Coalgate resident, passed away on August 28, 2019 at her home in Coalgate, OK. She was born on May 7, 1938, to Thomas and Lennie Ellen (White) Childress, at Ardmore, OK. She attended Cottonwood School, graduating from Coalgate High School in 1956. She then attended & graduated from Surgical Technician School at Pontotoc County Technology Center in Ada. Lenora owned & operated several local businesses in Coal county-a gas/convenience store, a dress shop, Mayer Meat Market & Meat Processing, an Antique Shop in the Mayer Mansion, The Chicken Shack, Lenora's Flowers. She also worked for Tender Care Home Health in Coalgate, and as a scrub tech for Valley View Hospital in Ada, and Mary Hurley Hospital. Before retiring in 2000, she was employed at Dr. Helton's Office. Lenora married Tom Mayer on August 17, 1978 at Pryor, OK. Lenora was a member of the Coalgate United Methodist Church, the Coal County Election Board and volunteered with the Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed antiques & gardening. Lenora's greatest joy was having lunch with friends, traveling & time spent with her beloved family & grandchildren.

SURVIVED BY: HUSBAND: Tom Mayer of the home, SONS: Ricky Wood & wife Julie of Tulsa, OK., Tommy Wood of Coalgate, OK., GRANDCHILDREN: Matthew Wood & wife Stephanie of OKC, OK., Kaitlin (Wood) Shaw & husband Derek of OKC, OK., Shelby Wood of Norman, OK., Colton Wood of Coalgate, OK., Candice Ott & husband Cody of Hartshorne, OK., Adam Cole & wife Brittany of Coalgate, OK., 3-GREAT GRANDCHILDREN-Cooper Ott, Brynlee Ott, Parker Cole, SISTER: Mary James of Ada, OK., SPECIAL NIECE (SISTER): DeeAnn Miles of Coalgate, OK

Along with numerous nephews, nieces, cousins & dearly loved family & friends.
