Alba Jean Powell Jinkins

Alba Jean (Powell) Jinkins, age 94, a Ada resident. She was born on January 5, 1926, to Noel and Eva (Karr) Powell, at Ash Flat (Coal County), OK. Jean passed away on August 30, 2020 at Ada, OK. Jean attended elementary school at Nixon, Coalgate High School and graduated from Olney High School. She worked for the Western Union, McAlester Ammunition Depot and retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone company after 37 1/2 years. She married Paul Phillip Jinkins in Ada, Oklahoma on October 24, 1952. He preceded her in death on May 6, 1999.

Jean was a member of the Independent Baptist Church and Eastern Star in Corpus Christi, Texas, Lifetime member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary and lifetime member of AT&T Pioneers. She was a strong supporter of the Shriners Children's Hospital, Veteran's First and the St Labre Indian School. She spent her younger years helping the elderly and her church. Jean was a very giving person.

Alba Jinkins is Survived by her sisters Pauline Guinn of Corpus Christi, Texas, a brother John L. Powell of Coalgate, Oklahoma, brother in law Allen Jinkins of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, along with numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Noel and Eva (Karr) Powell, Husband Paul Jinkins, Sisters Mary Fullingin and husband Leroy Mona Lay, brothers Warren Powell and wife Jimmie, Raymond Powell and wife Loann, Floyd Powell, a sister in Law Becky (Scott) Powell
