Wanda Joyce Epperson, 73 year old former Coalgate, OK resident, passed away Saturday, October 21, 2017 in Durant, OK. Wanda was born December 26, 1943 in Atoka, OK to Floyd & Ruby (Marlow) Watson. Wanda attended Atoka High School where she met the love of her life. She was united in marriage to Jim Epperson on August 31, 1959 in Durant, OK. The couple moved to Coalgate in 1972 where they owned and operated the Jim Epperson Funeral Service. A few years later they purchased Coalgate Flowers & Gifts which Wanda operated for many years. Wanda is survived by: son; Bob Epperson of Owasso, OK, daughter; Christy Epperson of Durant, OK, daughter-in-law; Mitzi Epperson of Owasso, OK, brother; Duane Watson and wife Carol of Camino, CA, sisters; Kathy Haworth and husband Jerry of Coalgate, OK & Karen House and husband Wade of Holdenville, OK, sister-in-law; Cindy Burks and husband John of Atoka, OK, 6 grandchildren; Jimmy Epperson of Norman, OK, Kelsey Turner and husband Emory of Owasso, OK, Hunter Young of Norman, OK, Alexis Young of Stillwater, OK, Melissa Sigler and husband Jared of Bartlesville, OK and Christa Morton and husband Anthony of Portland, OR, Special Friends & Caretakers; Tonja Russell and MaryAnn Bell, Kimber Rowan, Debbie Rackley, Kristy Countryman, Aldean Carter LPN, Casi Norton RN and a host of nieces, nephews & cousins.
Wanda was preceded in death by: her parents, her husband of 57 years, Jim Epperson, a precious son, Todd Epperson, 3 brothers; Harlon Essman, Carrol & Ricky Watson, sister; Geraldean Adaway, nephews; Michael Jones, Mark Cochran & niece; Annette Watson.
The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 24th and funeral service 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 25, 2017 both at the First Baptist Church, Coalgate, Oklahoma. Chaplain David Kautt & Pastor Will Clark will officiate. Interment will be in Coalgate Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Epperson, Hunter Young, Emory Turner, Michael Cochran, Blake Barron, and Jeremy Burris. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jerry Haworth, John Burks, Bobby George Lee, Russell Wilson, J.D. Smith, Bobby Thomas, Dr. John Linton, and Vince Haney.
