Cecil "Jane" McCorkle Downard

Funeral services for Cecil "Jane" McCorkle Downard, a resident of Coalgate, were held Friday, April 9, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in Coalgate with the Rev. Buddy Bolin officiating, assisted by Randy Seybert. Burial was in Coalgate Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Brown's Funeral Service of Coalgate.
Mrs. Downard was born Septmeber 2, 1923 in Coal County to Lawrence and Mary E. Peeler Downard and passed away April 7, 2010 in Coalgate. She attended Cairo and Coalagate schools, graduating in 1942. Jane married William Robert Downard, Jr. on July 4, 1946 in Coalgate. He preceded her death on October 25, 1978. She was a housewife and a member of the Coalgate First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Jo Massie and husband Waymond of Coalgate; two sons, Billy Downard and wife Linda of Stratford, OK and Larry McCorkle and wife Cecilia of Marshfield, MO; granddaughters, Julie Johnstonof Coalgate, Jamie Mathews and husband Kenny of Marietta, OK and Billy Caye Downard of Coalgate; great grandson, Tanner Johnstonof Coalgate; daughter-in-law Diane Downard of Coalgate; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends, neighbors and loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Paul Wesley McCorkle and Lawrence McCorkle, Jr.; sisters, Earline McKinney, Louise Marcum, Madeline Ward, and Pauline Seybert.
Casketbearers were Bob Cody, Phillip Cody, Dan Droke, Mike Leonard, Clay Mowdy and Jay Pasquali. Honorary bearers were Tom Barnett, Johnnie Bellettini, Steve Cody, Orvill Duncan, Dr. R. J. Helton, Danny Johnston, Bob Strunk, Guy Strunk and Phillip Wood.
