Jonah Lee Barnett Jr., age 73, a Coalgate resident was born on January 1, 1946, to Jonah and Jewel (Washburn) Barnett Sr., at Cottonwood. Jonah passed away on February 9, 2019 at Coalgate, OK. a the age of 73 years, 1 month and 8 days.
Jonah was a 1963 graduate of Coalgate High School.
Jonah retired after 30 years at Mack Alford & Howard McLeod Correctional Centers as a welding instructor.
Jonah married Beverly Caballero on April 25, 2000 in Cottonwood, OK
Jonah was of the Baptist faith. He had a basketball scholarship to Southeastern, he was inducted to the Coalgate Athletic Hall of Fame in 2019 Jonah enjoyed hunting , fishing raising fighting roosters. He loved food & watching sports, especially OU.
Jonah is survived by his wife Beverly (Caballero) Barnett of Cottonwood, OK. Daughter Kristi Hamilton & husband John of Atoka, OK, Son Jonah Lee Barnett III, sister Naomi Nichols & husband Eric of Cottonwood, OK, Grandchildren Kristopher Wade Powell, Garrett Hamilton & wife Jaycie, Johnny Lee "Tre" Hamilton III, and Gracee Hamilton. 9-Great Grandchildren, 1-Niece and 6- Nephews, Along with many dear & loved family & friends.
Jonah was preceded in death by his Father Jonah Lee Barnett Sr., his Mother Jewel (Washburn) Jones, and his Step Father Richard H. Jones
