Edward Leon Baker, age 72, died Monday, April 17, 2017 at his home.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home Chapel with Randy Hughes officiating. Burial will follow at Coalgate Cemetery under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home.
Edward Leon Baker was born on June 24, 1944 in Coalgate, Oklahoma to Leon and Pernecia (Standridge) Baker. He married Susie Jones on February 15, 1964 in McAlester. He worked for the Chevrolet Dealership in McAlester from 1964 until his retirement in 2005. He served as MSG in the 45th Division of the Army Reserve Center in McAlester for many years until his retirement. He loved deer hunting, his Class of 1963, traveling and spending time on his farm in Coalgate. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by 1 son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Julie Baker, of McAlester; 2 sisters, Rosemary Kirk, of Lake Jackson, Texas, Barbara Ann Terrell, of Abilene, Texas; sister-in-law, Cindy Cook, of McAlester; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Stan and Kay Jones, of McAlester; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Susie on February 23, 2008 and his parents.
Active pallbearers are Bobby James, Steve James, Kevin Harmon, Eddie Hundley, Kenny Terrell, George Finamore and Ronnie Smith.
