CLARENCE BURL RUSHING

Funeral services for Clarence Burl Rushing, a longtime Coal County resident, were held Monday, January 18, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Coalgate First Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Weathers officiating. Burial was in Centrahoma Cemetery with arrangements under the direcion of Brown's Funeral Service of Coalgate.
Mr. Rushing was born July 29, 1924 in El Reno, OK to Roy L. and Essie Holland Rushing and passed away January 14, 2010 in Talihina, OK at the age of 85. He attended school in El Reno and attended a butcher school in Toledo, OH. On June 20, 1953 he married Lovoyce Young of Atoka, OK. Mr. Rushing was a rancher and worked at the ammunition plant in Savanna where he retired. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Coalgate, was a veteran, having served in the Army in WWII as a combat rifleman. He also loved fishing, hunting and gardening.
Survivors include his wife, Lovoyce Rushing of the home; sons, Doug Smith and wife Joy of Coalgate and Tim Rushing and wife Janice of Calvin; daughters, Shirley Allen of Coalgate, Billie Jean Blaylock and husband Ronald of Calvin and Nancy Traylor and husband Ferlin of Allen; seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; lifetime friends Baley and Christine Eddings; along with many dear and loved friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Margarette Rushing and brother Leroy Rushing.
Casketbearers were Ferlin Traylor, Ray Wilson, Don McCollum, Ron Blaylock, Jr., Paul Blaylock, and Richard Eddings. Honorary bearers were Baley Eddings and Simon Young.
