HOUSTON WELLS JR.
AHLOSO -- Services for Houston Wells Jr., 83, Ahloso, are 2 p.m. Monday at Ahloso Baptist Church, the Rev. Dan Cusher officiating. Burial will follow at Byrd's Prairie Cemetery at Tupelo. The family will receive friends at Criswell Funeral Home from 2-4 p.m. Sunday.
Mr. Wells died Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009, at his home. He was born June 9, 1926, to Houston and Minnie Garrett Wells at Cordell, Okla. He attended Jesse and Stonewall Schools. He was a retired chef having worked at Kit Kat and Holiday Inn and had served as city marshall at Stonewall for several years. He was affiliated with the Ahloso Baptist Church.
Mr. Wells and Naomi Anglin were married Oct. 13, 1972, in Las Vegas, Nev.
Survivors include his wife, Naomi, of the home; two daughters, Teresa and husband Michael Neeley, Asher, and Christine and husband Tom Williams, Boswell,; one son, Jack Wells, of the home; two brothers, Ernest McDonald and wife Barbara, Union Valley, and Glen Ray McDonald, Stonewall; one sister, Elnora and husband Norris Lillard, Ada; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Lee Wells; his father, Houston Wells; his mother, Minnie McDonald; and his step-father, Jack McDonald.
Bearers are grandsons, Tye Neeley, Keifer Neeley, John Williams, Christopher Williams, Trevor Foster, Thomas Foster and Troy Triado. Honorary bearers are Tom Williams, Michael Neeley, Ernest McDonald, Glen Ray McDonald and Norris Lillard.
