Tombstone Mary Elizabeth (Bryant) Ewing and my mother, Ruthie Mae French. Since my mother was born in 1927, I think this photo was taken in either 1929 or 1930 since she looks to be about 2 or 3 years old. Just look at those deep brown Ewing eyes! Charles & Mary probably taken after all the children had married, after 1921 possibly. Charles & Mary sitting with their two younger children, my grandmother, Rillie Mae Ewing and middle son Jason Elonzo Ewing standing in front. Their middle daughter, Nota Sota Ewing (Tumlin) and oldest son Robert Lee Ewing standing in back. I estimate this photo being taken about 1893 Ewing Family taken shortly after the death of Jason Elonzo Ewing, the middle son. It was popular then to take a photo with a portrait of the loved one, who had just passed away. Charles Dilmus Ewing and his wife, Mary Elizabeth Bryant are once again sitting in chairs, with my grandmother sitting in Charles' lap. Robert Lee Ewing, the oldest is standing in the middle with the two older girls standing on either side of him. Ewing Children probably Robert Lee Ewing standing in the middle with Mirtie Ellsworth and Nota Sota Ewing, his sisters on each side. Probably Jason Elonzo Ewing as a baby we think. It could very well be another baby in the family, that died very young and we don't know about too. Obit for Charles Obit for Mary |
