Michael “Mike” Forrest Cowan was born October 26, 1951 to Clayton and Franchie Lee Cowan in Pryor, Oklahoma. He passed away on Friday, September 5, 2014.  Mike graduated from Pryor High School in 1969 and Central State University in 1973.

He married the love of his life, Eloise “Elley” Woods, on July 31, 1976 in Norman, Oklahoma. Mike and Elley enjoyed 38 years of love, laughter and family together. Their marriage remained strong to the end and served as a source of support for their children. Mike was a gentle and humorous father to his three children Brent Talmadge, Zachariah Calvin and Emily Elizabeth. Mike could always be counted on for a joke and a smile and his good wit lives on in his children.

Mike was employed at the University of Oklahoma Printing Services for 27 years. He was an ardent OU fan, and he also enjoyed woodworking and riding bicycles. His great interest, however, was playing guitar. Mike was a talented guitar player and singer and music could always be heard in his home. Mike was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and he will be missed by his family every day. His warm humor, kind eyes, and loving nature will leave a permanent memory in the hearts of all who knew him.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Aleczander Cowan; his brother-in-law, Jesse Perkins; and his mother-in-law, Anna Joyce Woods.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Amber and Abigail Cowan of Claremore, Malachi, Kaya, Ian and Gabe Cowan of Norman, and Brice Perry of Norman.

The family will be present to receive friends for visitation at Havenbrook Funeral Home, 3401 Havenbrook Street in Norman on Tuesday, September 9th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 10th at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1506 W. Imhoff Road in Norman with interment following at the Warren Cemetery in Norman.
