Funeral services for Mr. E. Ray Brumfield, age 81, of Norman, will be held 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at The Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel, 3401 Havenbrook Street in Norman with Reverend Bobby Nabors and Dr. Terry Tramel officiating.  
       
Ray was born January 6, 1930 in Huntington, West Virginia the son of Earl and Sadie (Overby) Brumfield.  

He passed away Friday, April 22, 2011 in Norman, Oklahoma.

Ray was a masonry contractor in Norman for over 40 years.  He was a member of The Gideons International, joining the Gideons in December of 1972 and was a charter member of the Norman camp holding every office including the office of the President during his 39 years of service.  Ray was a dedicated family man and loved spending time with his grandchildren.  He also enjoyed the outdoors and fishing.
       
He is survived by two sons, E. Ray Brumfield, Jr. and his wife, Lacenda; Ron Brumfield and his wife, Sheila all of Norman, OK; two brothers, Lewis Brumfield and his wife Loretha of Oregon, Paul “J.P.” Brumfield and his wife, Eva of California; sister, Beatrice Lucille Napier of Huntington, West Virginia; Betty Napier and her husband Reverend Don Napier of Huntington, West Virginia; four grandchildren, Celia Brumfield, Andrea Brumfield, Austin Brumfield and Preston Brumfield; numerous nieces and nephews.       

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Sadie Brumfield; his wife, Bobbie K. Brumfield in 1998; three brothers, Don Brumfield, Claud Brumfield and Charles Brumfield; two sisters, Loretta Jean Napier and one sister in infancy.
       
Burial will conclude in the Warren Cemetery in Norman, under the direction of the Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman.

Memorial donations may be made in memory of  Ray Brumfield to The Gideons International Norman Chapter, P.O. Box 5111, Norman, Oklahoma  73070.
