Hamilton, Loretta Jean, 81, passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2012 in Granbury, Texas.
She was
born on June 5, 1930 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Henry and Nova (Kennedy)
Wilson. When Loretta was six months of age her family moved to a farm on West
Robinson in Norman graduating from New Hope school and Norman High School. She
attended the University of Oklahoma for one year. She married Dwight Hamilton
who passed away in 1994 then remarried Ernie Geary in 2001 and he passed in
2006.
Loretta's professional hats included daughter, wife, mother, secretary,
bookkeeper, medical transcriptionist, baker, host parent to international
students, house director of sororities on the University of Oklahoma campus and
author. She was the author of Coming Full Circle published in 2006. The book
outlines her quest to uncover the details of her brother's death in WWII.
Loretta is survived by sons, Gary Dwight Hamilton and wife Linnea of Granbury,
TX, Keith Douglas Hamilton and wife Debbi of Napa, CA and Hershel Dick Hamilton
of Norman, OK; one daughter, Lorijayne Stephens and husband Owen of Norman; five
grandchildren, Aimee Nava, Ashlee Nava, Colby Hamilton, Jacob Hamilton and
Zachary Hamilton; aunts, Florene Brennan of Calimesa, CA and Mary Lee Jarvis of
Norman; sister-in-law, Helen Wilson of San Jose, CA; niece, Cynthia Wilson
Floyd; and nephew, Steve Wilson of San Jose, CA.
She is preceded in death by
her parents; her husband, Dwight Richard Hamilton; her husband, Ernie Geary; two
brothers, Hershel Wilson and Marvin Wilson; sister-in-law, Sarah Wilson; and
nephew, David Wilson.
Visitation will be held at Havenbrook Funeral Home from 1:00 – 8:00 p.m.,
Sunday, January 22, 2012 with the family greeting friends from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Monday, January 23, 2012 at Alameda Church of Christ, 801 E. Alameda St., Norman with interment following at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery of Norman. Arrangements for Loretta and her family were placed in the care of the Vice Family at Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman.
