Ruby Hazell Six
Warren, 88, passed from this earth on June 1, 2014, to be with her Lord and
enter into the joy and rest of His presence. She was born November 14, 1925 in
Oklahoma City to Francis Ralph and Ruby Parilee (Rosser) Six.
Ruby grew up in Oklahoma City and Pawhuska and graduated from Pawhuska High
School in 1943. She attended the University of Oklahoma where she met her future
husband, James (Jim) D. Warren. They married June 5, 1948 at McFarlin Memorial
United Methodist Church in Norman and have loved and supported one another for
over 65 years. Ruby moved with Jim to Camden, New Jersey, and Dallas, Texas
before moving back to Norman in 1955.
Her first loves were God, her husband, and her family. She was truly a homemaker
and her life's calling was to create a loving and nurturing environment for her
family. Ruby loved music and loved playing piano. She passed along her love of
music to her seven children, attending many, many, band and orchestra concerts
from her children’s first elementary school programs to college performances.
She loved reading—everything from history to novels and theology—but perhaps
nothing more than God’s Word in the Bible. Her devotional time with God every
morning was an example that will never be forgotten by her children.
A long-time member of First Baptist Church in Norman, Ruby served the God she
loved by teaching Sunday Bible classes for years—for children, teenagers, and
adults. She had a heart for missions and missionaries and hosted numerous
missionaries in the Warren home over the years. She was active in the Women's
Missionary Union of First Baptist Church, including serving as President between
1977 and 1978. Along with other members from First Baptist Church, she and Jim
helped found Northeast Baptist Church in 1985, where she continued serving
faithfully for many years. Her community involvement included participating in
Norman Christian Women's Club, the OU Dames organization, and also serving as a
county precinct voting registrar for several years.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Warren Six, Richard Six, and Orion
Six; her sister, Dema (Six) Cole; an infant daughter, Rebecca Warren; and an
infant great-grandchild, Joshua Warren.
Ruby is survived by her husband, Jim
Warren and her brother, Jerome B. Six. She is also survived by her seven
children, David Warren, John Warren, Janet (Warren) Schaffner, Daniel Warren,
Paul Warren, and Philip Warren, and Cynthia (Warren) Ramirez. Her legacy of love
for the Lord and for her family continues on to her 19 grandchildren and 17
great grandchildren. We will miss her greatly.
Visitation for Ruby will be from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 4, 2014
at Havenbrook Funeral Home, 3401 Havenbrook St. in Norman.
Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Northeast Baptist Church officiated by Reverend Ed Sasnett, 905 E. Rock Creek Rd. in Norman with interment following at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Norman.
Memorials may be made in memory of Ruby to the Northeast Baptist Church building fund or missions fund.
