Daniel James "J.D." Walkup, 82, passed away December 30, 2019. He was born in Sallisaw, OK, to the late Albert and Alma Walkup. In 1968, J.D. moved his family to Norman from California. He owned and operated Walkup's Market from 1968-1978, and later retired from Totco after many years of service. He continued working for the company part-time until four years ago. J.D. was an avid OU Sooners fan and an old car enthusiast. Three years ago, he and his son, Scott, restored a 1968 Firebird that he bought new for his wife in 1968.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sharon Walkup; two sons, Scott Walkup and wife Christie, and Brandon Walkup; two grandsons, Jacob Walkup and Carson Walkup; two great grandchildren, Kendra and Kyler; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm on Thursday, January 2, 2020, at Havenbrook Funeral Home in Norman. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, January 3, 2020, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Norman.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Work Activity Center, 203 East Main St, Moore, OK 73160.
