Funeral services for Renate Amalia Templin will begin 11:00 A.M., Monday, April 4, 2011 at Northeast Baptist Church, 905 E. Rock Creed Road, Norman, Oklahoma.
Renate was
born April 20, 1944 in Unterheinzendorf, Czechoslovakia the first daughter of
Rudolf and Emma Kirschner and passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at
Integris Southwest Medical Center in Oklahoma City from cancer with her family
close by her side.
She married Cleo F. Templin, a U.S. Serviceman, on September 3, 1965 in Fulda,
Germany. She thoroughly enjoyed his company as they shared life and traveled
the world together over the next 46 years. Renate began working in the kitchen
of the State of Oklahoma Veteran's Memorial Hospital in 1980 as a cook.
Throughout her 26 years with the state she served as the hospital's baker and
ultimately the kitchen supervisor. She took great pride in preparing meals and
baking cookies for those who served our country. Renate was ecstatic to become
a U.S. Citizen on August 29, 2003. She was very patriotic and elated to
officially belong in the United States. She no longer had to sit on the
sidelines during elections, but could now cast her vote, which she did. Renate
loved doing things with her hands like crocheting, needle point and sewing. She
had a tremendous talent for baking and she often spent many hours designing and
making wedding cakes. She graciously donated her talents in the kitchen to her
church, serving on the kitchen committee for Northeast Baptist. She loved
sharing her gift and serving others.
Renate is survived by her husband, Cleo of the home; two sons, Roy Templin and
wife Leslie of Enterprise, AL and Steve Templin and wife Chrystal of Lewisville,
TX; one daughter, Barbara Morgenstern and husband Ken of Carrollton, TX; one
sister, Kitty Selinger and husband Pete of Monrovia, CA; and seven
grandchildren, Lauren, Austin, Preston, Joey, Amber, Tori and Henry.
Pallbearers are Jim Templin, Steven Templin, Roy Templin, Ken Morgenstern, Bob
Hunter and Charlie Evans.
The family will greet friends from 2:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M., Sunday, April 2, 2011 at Havenbrook Funeral Home.
Renate will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park following the services. Arrangements are under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home.
