Funeral services
for Junior Ben Strategier, age 85, of Norman will be held at 10:00 am Thursday,
October 28, 2010 in The Chapel of the Havenbrook Funeral Home, 3401 Havenbrook
Street in Norman.
Junior passed peacefully early Saturday morning, October 23, 2010. Junior,
nicked named “Flat” died at home with his wife and children by his side. Born
and raised on his grandfather’s land at 48th and Alameda, Junior met the love of
his life, Inez Annesley, at The Diner on East Main Street.
Junior was known for his pool playing prowness, sharp shooting ability, and his
colorful use of the English language with such words as “peckerwood” and “frasslin.”
He loved being at home and if you wanted to find him, he'd be on his back porch
with his Daisy BB gun and a fly swatter nearby.
A Veteran of WWII, Junior was a plumber and pipe fitter and retired from Tinker
Air Force Base in 1983. Born Saint Patrick's Day, 1925 to Ben and Annie
Strategier, Junior was the youngest of four children.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Grant Bernard Strategier
on December 3, 2006; one sister, and two brothers.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Inez, who was the center of his world;
two sons; Phil C. Strategier and his wife, Gay of Norman; Greg Strategier and
his wife, Jamie of New Orleans, LA; one daughter, Pam Strategier Panter of
Collierville, TN; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, October 27,
2010 at the Havenbrook Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Travis Strategier, Andrew Panter, Brandon Howard, Kerrens
Sharp, Alan Imhoff, and Mike Hawkins; Honorary Pallbearers will be Bob Diehm,
Leroy Stibbens, Max Huddleston, and James Imhoff.
The family would like to express special gratitude to Tracy Jensen and Sherion
Trask for their loving care and support. Also, in lieu of flowers, the family
requests donations be made in Junior's memory to Good Sheppard Hospice, 1818
West Lindsey, Suite B-108, Norman, OK 73069.
Burial will conclude in Sunset Memorial
Park Cemetery under the direction of the Havenbrook Funeral Home of
Norman.
