Forest LaBoyd Searcey, 89, of Norman, Oklahoma went home to be with his Lord on Friday, March 27, 2015.
Known to most as “Boyd,” he was born in Gould, Oklahoma on August 28,
1925 to the late Forest Tate Searcey and Opal Springs Searcey but grew up in
Eldorado. As a young man, he answered the call to serve his country and joined
the U.S. Army, seeing action in World War II, serving in the Air Force during
the Korean conflict and then as a civil servant at Tinker AFB. A man of great
faith, Boyd enjoyed serving the Lord and others in many ways and was a longtime
member of First Baptist Church. He was a hard worker with a servant’s heart who
loved tending his garden, especially so that he could give away the fruits (and
vegetables) of his labor to friends and neighbors. Boyd was especially devoted
to his wife and family and together they spent many summers in Wyoming in recent
years just so they could be close to their grandchildren.
Boyd is survived by his wife of 64 years, Frances W. Searcey of Norman; two
sons, David Searcey and wife Tanya of San Antonio, Texas and Paul Searcey and
wife Nancy of Casper, Wyoming; one daughter, Karen Bearden and husband, Terral
of Sheridan, Wyoming; one brother, Lloyd Searcey and wife Ramona of Edmond, OK;
eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a
grandson, Adam Searcey.
Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Havenbrook Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, April 2, 2015 at First Baptist Church
of Norman with a reception to follow in Hallock Hall.
A private interment will
be at Sunset Memorial Park.
