Pollock, Mary Lee, had her homecoming with the Lord on March 19, 2011 after a life blessed with service to Him.
She was born Mary Lee Tope on November 1, 1923 to Harry and
Mabel Tope in Lilbourn, Missouri. She came to faith in Christ at an early age,
and lived her life seeking to bring glory to her Savior, being a blessing to her
family and friends and searching the Scriptures daily for His truth. She was a
schoolteacher, homemaker and Bible teacher. As she began her career in
education, she met the love of her life, Ray Allan Pollock, who was serving in
the Navy at the time. They were married on August 4, 1945.
When her husband answered God's call to the ministry, Mary became a devoted
minister's wife and served alongside Allan, dedicating herself to the people the
Lord placed in her life. Her passion for God's Word led her to become a Bible
teacher, a role she continued all her life. She was also a homemaker in every
sense of the word, creating “celebrations” for even trivial events in order to
cook big meals and bountiful desserts for her family and friends.
Having majored in drama in college, she had an enjoyment for memorizing poetry,
often quoting long passages in conversations with people. She was an avid
reader, loved flowers and gardening and was always ready for a game of
“forty-two”.
Mary had three sisters and one brother: Emma Katherine Hager, deceased, Delores
Maddux and husband, A.D. Maddux of Evansville, Indiana; Harriet Ann Woods,
Jefferson City, Missouri; Charles Tope and wife LaVerne Tope of San Antonio,
Texas.
Mary is survived by her husband, Allan Pollock of the home; son Dave Pollock and
wife Jan; daughter Luana Ehrlich and husband James; daughter Lynn Awerbuch and
husband Ilan; daughter Lenora Rand and husband Gary. She adored her
grandchildren, Karis Barnett, Chris and Chad Pollock, Zoe and Hannah Rand, and
her precious great grandchildren, Justin and Jake Barnett and Sydney and Emily
Pollock and a number of wonderful nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her leaving this earth for her heavenly home creates a hole in the lives of each
of us that will never be filled this side of heaven. Her desire is that you
would come to join her in worshiping the Lord Jesus Christ by placing your faith
solely in the death of God's Son who gave Himself that all who believe would
spend their eternity with Him.
