Funeral
services for Mr. Wes Neidhart, age 92, of Edmond, will be held at
2:00 pm Monday, April 11, 2011 at the First Baptist Church, 1300 SE
33rd Street in Edmond with Pastor Ken Huddleston and Pastor Richard
Stephens officiating.
Wes was born March 20, 1919 in Greencamp, Ohio. He passed away
early Friday morning, April 8, 2011 at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma
City.
Wes attended public schools in Greencamp, graduating from Greencamp
High School in 1937. He later enrolled at Heidelberg University in
Tiffin, Ohio completing an Associate Degree in Chemistry in 1939.
Wes was united in marriage to Miss Ida Jenny “Sue” Easterday on July
24, 1938 in Greenup, Kentucky. Soon after their marriage, Wes and
Sue were blessed with the birth of their first child, Joyce and a
few years later, they welcomed their son, Bob.
Wes and Sue moved to Norman in 1968, where Wes was employed as a
Life Insurance Agent with Metropolitan Life Insurance for 14 years
before his retirement in 1981.
After retirement, Wes and Sue traveled extensively in their motor
home. The two of them served as National Parks Hosts for 28 years,
planning and hosting friends from around the United States.
Wes also enjoyed playing golf, riding motorcycles, and was an
accomplished musician and could play various instruments. He was
particularly fond of pianos and had the ability to tune them
perfectly by ear.
Wes was the happiest when he was in the company of his family. He
adored his lovely wife, Sue and relished being in the company of his
two children, Joyce and Bob and their families. He loved his
grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren,
laughing and joking with them, making unforgettable memories. Wes
was an anchor in his family, and the legacy he leaves behind will
help guide his family for the rest of their lives. His kindred
spirit, good humor and the love he had in his heart for other will
never be forgotten.
Wes is survived by his wife of nearly 73 years, Sue of the home; one
son, Bob Neidhart and his wife, Sherry of Norman, OK; one daughter,
Joyce Stone and her husband, Richard of Jones, OK; one foster
daughter; Joyce Bowen and her husband, Gordon of Kendallville, IN;
eight grandchildren; Terry Green and his wife, Karen; Amy K. Roberts
and her husband, Bob; Rodney Green and his wife, Kathy; John Stewart
and his wife, Michelle; Melissa Murfitt and her husband, Michael;
Michael Green and his wife, Ramona; Dianna Jackson and her husband,
Ken; and Jason Stewart; 16 great grandchildren; Amber Cummings,
Garrett Green, Keith Green, Jessica Green, Kevin Green, Emily
Jackson, Krystal Jackson, Danisha Koone, Derick Koone, Princess
Neidhart, Angel Salyer, Brieana Neidhart, Chelsee Stewart, Whitney
Stewart, Gracie Stewart, Miles Murfitt; and seven great great
grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Troy Neidhart
on September 11, 2002 and one foster son, Paul Rice.
Burial will conclude in
Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Norman under the direction
of the Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman,
