Martin, Virginia (Ewing), 90, retired teacher, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2012 in Norman, Oklahoma.Virginia was born in Cherokee, Oklahoma on January
20, 1922 to Robert Ray and Hettie Rose (Clements) Ewing. She graduated
from Carmen High School in 1939. Virginia received her BA from
Northwestern State College, Alva, OK and her Masters of Music degree
from the University of Oklahoma, Norman. She taught Vocal Music and
English in the Kansas and Oklahoma Public Schools for 17 years and 14
years in the 5th and 6th grades in Norman. Virginia enjoyed playing the
piano for the “Golden Notes Group” at Rivermont At The Trails. Virginia
loved spending time with her family and her family will miss their
frequent trips to IHOP and shopping.
Virginia is survived by her daughter, Pam McMahon; her granddaughter,
Ginny McMahon; first cousin, Calvin Clements; many nieces and nephews;
and a host of family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Larry Martin; one
sister, Neita; and four brothers, Bud, Glenn, Herb and Jack.
Memorials may be made in memory of Virginia to the charity of your
choice. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Wednesday,
March 7, 2012 at Havenbrook Funeral Home, 3401 Havenbrook St., Norman.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 8, 2012 in the Chapel of the Havenbrook Funeral Home with interment following in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements for Virginia and her family were placed in the care of the Vice Family at Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman.
