Funeral services for Doug Marcom, age 50, of Norman will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, October 2, 2010 at the Northeast Baptist Church, 905 East Rock Creek Road in Norman with Dr. Ed Sasnett officiating.

Doug was born May 27, 1960 in Norman, Oklahoma the son of Douglas and Gloria (Refner) Marcom, Sr.  He passed away Monday, September 27, 2010 at his home in Norman. 

Doug was raised in Frederick, Oklahoma attending Frederick Public Schools.  He graduated from Frederick High School in May of 1978.  Doug was later united in marriage to Miss Catherine Haun on June 4, 1980 in Oklahoma City.  He attended the University of Oklahoma graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering and a minor in Mathematics in December of 1993.  Doug returned to college, earning a Masters Degree in Computer Science from Webster University in December of 2001.
When Doug wasn't engaged in his role at Tinker being an Electrical Engineer, he enjoyed Sooners Football and Dallas Cowboys Football games.  He enjoyed spending time with his wife, Catherine, taking peaceful walks together.  He also enjoyed watching movies, having dinner out however; one of his favorite things was to see a good play.  He loved the theater and the shows on Broadway.   
Doug mostly enjoyed spending time with his family, and was actively involved in his five sons' sporting events, coaching and mentoring not only his own sons but their teammates too.  Doug had a heart of gold, was an unbelievably awesome Dad and would do anything to help anybody. His kindred spirit and great sense of humor will be missed by his family and many friends. 

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Catherine of the home in Norman; his five sons, Douglass Marcom, III of Norman; Joshua Marcom and his wife, April of Lawton; Keith Marcom of Norman; Scott Marcom of Norman and Levi Marcom also of Norman; three grandchildren; Joshua Marcom. Holly Marcom, and Violett Marcom all of Lawton; his mother and father, Gloria and Tom Keller of Chattanooga, OK; and his sister, Kim Fernandez and her husband, David of Lawton.

Doug was preceded in death by his father, Douglas Marcom, Sr.; one brother, Don Marcom and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

The Marcom Family will greet friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday, October 1, 2010 at the Havenbrook Funeral Home, 3401 Havenbrook Street, Norman, OK

Burial will conclude in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman.
